About the Role

This vacancy is for a GS-0301-9, Administrative Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, DIRECTOR COMMERCIAL REGULATIONS and STANDARDS -CG-5PS in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia. This position is open to candidates in the local commuting area of Washington, DC.

What You'll Do

  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Exercising exclusive control over the Division Chief's appointments, with complete authority for commitments of time.
  • Screening all correspondence prepared for the Director's signature for clarity, completeness of reply, and grammatical and procedural correctness.
  • Following up on various personnel and related actions, such as performance evaluations and timekeeping, to ensure both evaluations and time records are completed accurately and in a timely manner for the unit.
  • Arranging travel plans for the Director to ensure proper arrangements are made for travel.
  • Training other administrative staff within the directorate to perform duties as to the correct procedures when submitting correspondence for signature.
  • Assisting with budget preparation and monitoring, including processing purchase requests, invoices, and maintaining financial records.
  • Managing the directorate's awards and informal recognition programs to include scheduling and facilitating meetings and presentations.
