About the Role
This position is located in the Air Traffic Organization, Systems Operations, National Airspace System (NAS) Operations Directorate, Deputy Director of System Operations (DDSOs). This organization serves as the focal point for NAS-wide engagement around system efficiency.
What You'll Do
- →He/she applies comprehensive knowledge of air traffic staff programs, such as airspace design, procedures, and traffic management, to measure, evaluate and analyze system performance metrics such as weather data, delays, airborne holding, diversions, cancellations etc.
- →He/she furnishes regional expertise in a major air traffic control staff function, such as Traffic Management or airspace procedures to research and develop methods to maximize the use of available airspace.
- →This work contributes directly to the accomplishment of air traffic and other FAA objectives and the efficiency and effectiveness of the NAS.
- →He/she applies experience and comprehensive knowledge of air traffic control procedures and operations as well as FAA programs, regulations, and missions to evaluate regional programs such as Mile-in-Trail (MIT) reduction action plans to identify areas where the reduction or elimination of MIT is needed and appropriate.
- →He/she utilizes skill performing quality control functions to track and analyze systems metrics such as Expect Departure Clearance Times (EDCT) to assess compliance and the impacts of non-compliance, including excess vectoring, en route holding, ground stops and diversions.
- →Uses data analytics tools such as the National Traffic Management Log (NTML) to conduct trend analysis and organize data into actionable information to measure progress and to identify areas to implement corrective actions.
- →Tracks, monitors, and reports on efficiency metrics to improve NAS system performance.
- →Applies skill comparing historical and current airspace flow program data, to participate in the development of software, data sets, analysis tools and programs.
- →This position has access to national classified information.
- →As such, he/she ensures that classified documents are handled, stored, and safeguarded in accordance with current orders.
- →When appropriate, ensures that these documents are downgraded or destroyed in accordance with current orders.
- →Ensures that appropriate records and files are maintained.
- →These include classified material records, document register, and control point logs.
- →Conducts periodic surveys to ascertain the records are current and documents shown are actually accounted for.
