About the Role

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. What You'll Do

  • DUTIES: DUTY 1: Conducts scheduled/unscheduled maintenance and periodic inspections on all pneudraulically operated systems on/off aircraft in accordance with established procedures.
  • Performs visual inspections during calendar/hourly inspections (phase/isochronal, Home Station Checks, Hourly Post Flight, etc.), by inspecting such items as reservoir fluid level, brake pucks/carbon disks for clearance/serviceability, visual conditions of lines, shock struts for fluid and height of piston level, accumulators for air/nitrogen pressure, removing filters and cleaning or replacing.
  • DUTY 2: Performs troubleshooting of complex integrated pneudraulic systems of related on/off equipment for assigned and/or transient aircraft to include support equipment.
  • DUTY 3: Performs off-equipment maintenance and bench checks to support the repair cycle.
  • Disassembles pneudraulic system components by removing items such as: covers, poppets, springs, seals, pistons, valves and valve seats, etc.
  • DUTY 4: Utilizes safety practices and tool control procedures to maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Strictly adheres to safety procedures and regulations and promptly reports any observed or identified violations in accordance with established guidelines.
  • DUTY 5: Prepares/executes effective training plans to maximize training for all assigned personnel, e.g.,Active Duty, Reservist, Civilians, Contractors and foreign military.
  • Complies with required instruction, guidance and/or training and provides instruction, guidance and training to others while maintaining personal qualifications.
  • Reviews, verifies and documents aircraft forms, component forms/tags and Maintenance Information Systems (MIS) to reflect maintenance actions performed on and off equipment.
