The Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) Technologist is responsible for the management, maintenance, and support of the PACS, Voice Recognition System, Computer-Aided Detection (CAD), all imaging-related Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications, imaging-related health informatics, the importing and exporting of all medical imaging data, and the Radiology package in the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) at VA St. Louis Healthcare System.

- →The PACS technologist also provides oversight and support of PACS display workstations, interfaces, secondary applications, speech recognition and other hardware that is critical to departmental efficiency and throughput.
- →The PACS technologist ensures the effective capture, storage, and retrieval of medical imaging data, while maintaining system integrity, performance, and security.
- →The PACS Technologist will coordinate with the Diagnostic Imaging Service (DIS) physicians, DIS Administrative Officer (AO), DIS technologists, clinical services, the Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Health Technology Management (HTM), the Health Informatics (HI) service, and vendors to ensure optimal use of the PACS, and to provide end-user support and training.

Requirements
