About the Role

This Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) clinical associate position is located within a Medicine Specialty Outpatient Clinics, at VA St. Louis Health Care System (VASTLHCS), St. Louis, Missouri. The incumbent is accountable for all patient care given and functions within the LPN scope of practice as it relates to the Medicine Specialty Outpatient Clinic polices.

  • The LPN/LVN also performs assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, outstanding customer service, and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran.
  • The LPN/LVN performs within this functional statement under guidance of the Nurse Manager or designee.
  • LPN - Medicine Specialty Outpatient Clinics serves Veteran in an ambulatory setting various sites of care across VA St Louis Health System John Cochran Campus, Jefferson Barracks Campus and Annexes.
  • The LPN is accountable for all patient care given and function within the LPN scope of practice as it relates to policy and procedures.
  • The LPN is responsible for observing, recording and reporting changes in the patient's condition as well as assisting in the development and revision of patient driven holistic life care plan.
  • The LPN will initiate appropriate actions based on the treatment plan and their observation of patient condition under the under the supervision of RN Care Manager.
  • LPN demonstrates active collaboration and communication with the patient care team (Provider, RN Care Manager, NA and MSA) and expanded team.
  • The LPN assists with providing patient and family health education with focus on self-management, prevention and wellness.
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm, Rotating Schedule Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
  • When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
  • Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
  • Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
  • Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
