VA NWIHCS is an integrated system that serves more than 56,000 Veterans in 99 counties in Nebraska, western Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri. - →This role involves providing high-quality care to patients with serious illnesses, focusing on their comfort and quality of life, and leading a team of healthcare professionals to achieve this mission.Duties include but are not limited to the following: Provide hospice and palliative care consultative services for both inpatients and outpatients with established timelines.
- →Participate in on-call rotation or coverage for holidays/weekends.
- →Facilitate clarification of patient and family goals of care.
- →Facilitate access to appropriate support models of care.
- →Establish a written plan of care as specified so that pain and symptom management for patients is effectively and expeditiously done.
- →Provide medical directorship for hospice and palliative care which includes ongoing staff education, program oversight (including program development) and quality oversight.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
