About the Role

The Substance Use Disorder Services (SUDS) Social Worker will assume responsibility for the provision of psychotherapeutic services to Veterans who are admitted for substance use and co-occurring disorder rehabilitation. In this position you will interview Veterans/significant others and complete psychosocial assessments to include data pertinent to the development of an effective treatment as stipulated by standards.

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Substance Use Disorder Services (SUDS) Social Worker will assume responsibility for the provision of psychotherapeutic services to Veterans who are admitted for substance use and co-occurring disorder rehabilitation.
  • In this position you will interview Veterans/significant others and complete psychosocial assessments to include data pertinent to the development of an effective treatment as stipulated by standards.
  • Additional duties include, but are not limited to: Serve as a part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team and will provide direct care and treatment where indicated.
  • Possess an understanding of best practice evidence based treatments and use a wide range of treatment modalities including motivational interviewing or motivational enhancement, crisis intervention, individual case work, group psychotherapy, group psycho-education, etc.
  • Provide educational, facilitative, and therapeutic leadership with Veterans' group and individual therapy treatments with outpatient and intensive outpatient substance use treatment.
  • Complete all components of the intake and assessment process and develops a treatment plan pertaining to all assessed needs (substance use disorders, other DSM 5 disorders, as well as other social and medical issues) under direct supervision of a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Provide emergency care as needed for all veterans receiving outpatient substance use treatment in mental health including referring patients for emergency primary care treatment, psychiatric medication evaluations, or non-medical detoxification.
  • Actively participates in staff meeting regarding clinical, administrative, and staff development issues.
  • Participates in program planning and development, making recommendations for change sin policies and procedures as needs and opportunities arise.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): May be authorized for highly qualified candidates.
