Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters, Program Management Operations Directorate, Infrastructure, in the following locations: Laredo, TX San Diego, CA
What You'll Do
- →In this position, you will construct, maintain, and repair roads, shoulders, and related terrain using detailed grade specifications.
- →By ensuring safe, reliable ground access for agents and equipment in remote areas, it directly supports U.S.
- →Border Patrol's ability to conduct effective border security and enforcement operations.
- →This position starts at an hourly rate of $27.44 (WG-10, Step 1) to $37.19 (WG-10, Step 5).
- →Hourly Rate: The hourly rate listed reflects the range of wage schedules for the locations included within this job announcement.

- →As an Engineering Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for performing a range of construction, maintenance, and repair activities using heavy equipment and related tools to support field operations.
- →Typical duties will include: Operating heavy engineering equipment (e.g., tractors, graders, trenchers) to construct, maintain, and repair roads, shoulders, and soil surfaces.
- →Following detailed grade stakes and specifications set by engineers to achieve required road and surface contours.
- →Performing heavy-duty labor using hand and motor-powered tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, plate tampers, weed eaters, chain saws, lawn mowers) in support of road and grounds maintenance.
- →Maintaining safe, effective operation of assigned equipment and tools, reporting needed repairs or issues to appropriate personnel.
- →Performing other related duties as assigned in support of construction and maintenance projects.
