About the Role

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) serves as the IT hub of the U.S. Department of Labor. We develop, maintain and protect IT solutions and data across our 27 agencies to enable mission outcomes through technology and service. OCIO continually enhances federal IT and digital capability with a focus on cybersecurity and customer experience to serve America's wage earners, job seekers and retirees.

What You'll Do

  • The role supports the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and the IT Operations Directorate (ITOS), specifically the IT Asset and Configuration Management Branch.
  • ITOS provides reliable, secure, and cost-effective IT services that advance the DOL mission.
  • The position helps manage the Department's IT asset and configuration program by ensuring accurate tracking, documentation, and lifecycle management of hardware, software, mobile devices, and related services.
  • The IT Specialist will receive developmental assignments to prepare them for the higher-levels.
  • Duties may include, but are not limited to the following with supervisory/senior advisor assistance: Keep inventory records of all IT assets, including hardware, software, and licenses.
  • Participate in the creation of policies for IT asset management.
  • Monitor compliance with federal regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies.
  • Draft documents, reports, and other records of findings and create recommendations and proposes alternate solutions for remediation.
  • Use IT asset management (ITAM) and configuration management database (CMDB) tools to streamline processes and maintain accurate records.
  • Track project progress and schedules and address deviations and issues.
  • Implement patching strategies and procedures, minimizing downtime and user impact.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex desktop engineering issues.
  • Help enforce security policies and procedures on desktop systems, mitigating vulnerabilities and cyber risks.
