About the Role
You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Production Department Safety Branch (Code 9000S.1), Production Safety Manager (Code O900S), Production Resources Department Analysis and Business Manager (Code 900A), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
What You'll Do
- →You will conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections in buildings, dry docks, on ships, piers, and in various facilities to identify and provide recommendations, advice, and guidance to employees, supervisors, and managers.
- →You will provide mentoring assistance and directions to other production shop personnel to ensure prevention of injuries.
- →You will provide interaction with various trades such as Ship fitters, Riggers, Insulators, Welders, etc. who are responsible for execution of production tasks.
- →You will instruct all levels of workers and management in program requirements, establish and maintain liaison with shops, Process Managers, QA offices, and other Codes to ensure efficient coordination with established program requirements.
- →You will conduct a variety of activities directed at identifying hazardous conditions, operations, procedures, and work practices, where the potential for injury, health impairment, and property or material damage exists in production work.
- →You will provide oversight in a variety of production work areas and Safety Program functional areas, making recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- ✓In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education.
